Paperback Giveaways on Goodreads!

Yeah, yeah. I know. Many of us rarely buy paperbacks anymore. But that doesn't mean we don't enjoy the weight of a book in our hands as we read. Or the feel of those edges beneath our fingers as we flip through each page one by one. And let's not forget about the visual satisfaction of watching the end grow near, evident in those ever thinning pages.

So why am I tempting you with all of this imagery? Because I'm giving away paperbacks! Six, to be exact. The first to each of my series. Three paperbacks of Reese's Cowboy Kiss, book one in my Sweet Montana Bride Series. And three of Rough Edges, the first in my Second Chances Series.

Below you'll find the covers to each, along with a book blurb to whet your romance-reading appetite. Oh you'll also find links to the giveaways, which run through May 26th. But first let me assure you that each of these books, along with all of my published works, is available in ebook as well, for just $3.99 or less. And if you're part of that borrowing program with kindle? Yep, you can get them that way too.

Now for a bit about the books:

First we have Reese's Cowboy Kiss, which features witness protection - rancher style.

Texan pageant winner, Reese Taylor, has a former classmate who wants her dead. Now she must leave her friends and family to enter a protection program on Emerson Ranch. A group of good-looking cowboys awaits her, but Reese has her eye on Blake Emerson, the one man too busy with the ranch to give her a chance.

Blake Emerson has no time to go lookin’ for love. He’s got a ranch to run, positions to fill, and an ache in his heart from love gone wrong. So when he agrees to harbor a witness to help on the ranch, Blake assumes his first two problems are solved. But he never dreamed his new guest would be a woman. One he was destined to lose his heart to.

With sparks burning hot and danger around the bend, one question lingers in his mind: Has he only added to his list of troubles, or has Blake just found the woman of his dreams?

* Though this novel is considered clean romance, it does contain passionate kissing and a few minor curse words. *

Next is Rough Edges, a companion to the Sweet Montana Bride Series as well as the start of a new.

Divorced mother, Allie Emerson, never imagined she’d be raising two teenage girls on her own. Between parenting and paying the bills, she hasn’t even thought about meeting a man. That changes once she hears local carpenter, Braden Fox, is in need of a secretary. Back in high school, Allie had done all she could to deny the sparks burning between her and Braden; but would the chemistry still be there after all this time?

Braden has heard all about what Terrance did to Allie and the girls, has been planning to stop by and see how she’s getting along, but Allie beats him to it by showing up at his shop in search of a job. Her unexpected visit reignites the old flame Braden used to torch for her; trouble is, old feelings of resentment return as well. Allie did choose Terrance over him, after all. And as much as Braden wants Allie in his life, he’s not sure he can open his heart to her again.

With this second chance at romance, will the bumps in their relationship be too much to get over, or will this carpenter learn to smooth out the past?

Though this is considered clean romance it does contain passionate kissing, and a few mild swear words.

It's the Swoonys, Baby!!

Guess what?
Reese's Cowboy Kiss has been nominated for a Swoony Award! Not only that, it's ranked among the top twenty of over three hundred books!
Never heard of a Swoony Award before? Have no fear. This post will answer all your questions, and introduce you to some of the best in the book-blogging biz...

What Are the Swoony Awards?
The Swoony Awards were created to recognize excellence in clean fiction. There are so many books published every day and it can be hard to find the ones worth reading. We want to help recognize authors who write entertaining books that are wholesome. It’s our hope that each year we will help provide everyone with a great list of books to read and maybe introduce them to new authors.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
-Publication Year: Only books published during the current contest year may be nominated. To be fair to all books, contest dates will run from December 1, 2013 – November 31, 2014.
-Clean romance: No sex or closed door, low/mild innuendo. Only M/F romances.
-Language: None/mild, anything over a handful of profanity (especially the more offensive words) would not be considered clean.
-Violence: None/mild
-Other: Nothing overly dark, depressing or heavy subject matter

Novels, novellas and short stories are all eligible for nomination, no limits on page number. Any (clean) genre is eligible (i.e. contemporary, fantasy, mystery, historical, etc.).

Each voter is able to choose up to 100 books to vote on or nominate each contest year. There is no cap on the overall number of books nominated.

How Are Winners Selected?
We will be accepting entries throughout the year and the winners announced the first week in January. There are fifteen award categories (i.e. Best Novel of the Year, Best Historical, Best Contemporary, etc.). Winner’s will be announced via our blogs (Bookworm Nation, KJ’s Book Nook and Katie’s Clean Book Reviews) and through Goodreads Swoony Awards Group.

Since this is a reader’s choice award the winners are determined by a combination of the number of votes received and how high the voter rated the book and what rank the voter gave each book they voted for.

Who Are We?

Kathy
Kathy (Bookworm Nation)
I've been hosting a book review blog, Bookworm Nation, for over five years. I love to read and review books. And of course, I love to discuss books! A few years ago I started the Goodreads group, Happily Ever After Book Club. It's through Goodreads that I met Katie, Kathy Jo and Heidi and while discussing our love of books one day we thought it'd be fun to host our own Reader's Choice award. We're excited to introduce the Swoony's this year, it's going really well and we look forward to hosting it for years to come.

This may come as a shocker but I have NOT always been a little bookworm. In fact growing up I was not the kid you saw jumping at the chance to read. I was the one that just did it to make my teachers happy. That silent reading time during school?! Yeah.. I was the kid napping! ;) About 12 years ago someone loaned me a book and said I just HAD to read it. I took it just to get them off my back and much to my surprise I could NOT put it down! And from then on I would read... but only that one author. I refused to read anything else! It wasn't until 2009 when 2 of my favorite people introduced me to the Twilight Series that I actually started branching out. And ever since then I haven't been able to STOP reading! ;) About 5 months ago I decided to start a book blog and I have been loving it! I get to be another voice for all the amazing authors that I love! How cool is that?! And of course through my adventures in reading I have been able to meet some amazing women who love books just as much as, if not more than, me! I love chatting with them about all the books we read! We have become such great friends that at times I forget that I've never really met them in person! Books just have a way of bringing people together! My reading choices vary... I love a lot of different genres. With that said... I am not ashamed to admit that I am a romantic and I love fluff! As long as it's clean and has a HEA, I'll definitely give it a try! Any book that gives me a break from reality and puts a smile on my face is definitely a book for me!

Katie (Katie's Clean Book Collection)
I started blogging about a year and a half ago. I've always loved to read and talk about books--it's my obsession. The first book I learned to read on my own was Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham. I love a lot of different genres, but my favorite is clean romance, which is perfect for the Swoony's! I've had a blast meeting new friends who enjoy the same types of books that I do.

Heidi
Heidi
I'm a mother of four amazing kids and married to my own Prince Charming. I love to read, kiss my handsome Prince, bake, run (because I love to bake), ride horses, play sports, and spend time with my little family. I first fell in love with reading at a very young age because of my sweet grandmother who always took the time to read me my favorite books over and over again. She could never tell me no. My wonderful mother is also entirely addicted to reading and we love to "talk books" late into the night....and plot how we are going to buy more. :) I adore clean, happily ever after books, and I've loved getting to know so many other women who do as well. Who knew books would be the reason I would meet some of the dearest people in the world?!

Football Sweetheart, by the one and only, highly adorable Tiffany A White

Okay, if you haven't had the pleasure of meeting Tiffany A White, you are missing out! She is one of the kindest, coolest, most adorable tweeting, facebooking writing friends I have found via the internet. Plus, she's the author of this awesome, soon-to-be-read-by-me novel, Football Sweetheart.

Do you love that cover, or what?

Haven't heard of this one yet?
You're going to love the premise!

High School Football can be MURDER

Aimee Freeman is looking forward to the start of her senior year. She knows her best friend Ella has been keeping secrets from her all summer long, but with football season right around the corner, the student trainer decides not to worry about it-they'll have plenty of time to catch up on the field.

Then Ella goes missing, and Aimee realizes those secrets might be the key to finding her. As the case unfolds, Aimee discovers more than one person may have wanted to harm Ella. Was it Ella's current boyfriend, a social outcast the entire city seems intent on blaming for her disappearance? Or her ex-boyfriend, the beloved star quarterback who has harassed Ella since their breakup? The list of potential suspects continues to grow after Aimee reads Ella's journal, but she must break her best friend's secret code to reveal their identities.

Unbeknownst to Aimee, her investigation has not gone unnoticed. Ella's abductor is watching and waiting. Will he decide Aimee needs to be silenced-making her the next target?

Mmm. Wasn't that enticing? Plus, I've got a juicy little excerpt to whet your appetite. Here it is (I'm going for green again since it matches her awesome cover):

Her mood vastly improved, Aimee began her journey back to the foyer. But as she passed the varsity showers, her paranoia returned once again. She had been in this room hundreds of times over her high school career and never quite felt as she did this instant. Aimee’s arm hairs stood straight up, just as they would have had the temperature drastically dropped. Chills covered her cheeks and arms. The feeling of disturbed butterflies swarmed inside Aimee’s stomach, and the urgency to leave the pitch-black locker room prompted her to take longer strides, until a sharp pain rushed through Aimee’s right pinky toe.

“Damn it!” Aimee crumpled over in pain. It was too dark to see what she had stubbed her toe on or if it was bleeding, but the pain was substantial. She squeezed her toe between her fingers, forcing the pain to subside. As she rocked back and forth holding her tiny toe, she remained in a ball with her long, curled locks dangling over both sides of her face. Suddenly, a cool breeze tickled the nape of Aimee’s exposed neck.

A large shadow hovered over Aimee in the darkness. He reached down, but was interrupted. His once extended hand now covered his mouth, trapping any sounds that might escape as he slowly tiptoed backwards into the toilet area.

There you have it, kids.
Now you can go and get it.
